 According to an August 2024 report from Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker, the price of medical care, including insurance, drugs and medical equipment has increased by 121.3% since 2000. In contrast, prices for all consumer goods and services increased by 86.1% during that time. Health care is a major expense during retirement, even with Medicare and Medicare supplements helping to cover costs through deductibles and copays. However, Medicare doesn’t necessarily cover all health care costs.
